Bruce Hamilton

Bruce Hamilton has been involved in community development work since 1986 when appointed to
the West Coast Regional Development Council and the REAC committee.

Following a visit from two speakers from the Scottish Community Development Agency he saw
that their was potential to apply the scheme locally. Along with others he helped form the Buller
Community Development Company.

Bruce spent some years as Chair of BCDC and five years ago became the General Manager. The
company owns two nurseries, two buildings in Westport that house training facilities including a
blacksmithing & light engineering facility with three forges, a fertiliser manufacturing plant, training
rooms and office space for its industry training arm and administration team.

Bruce has been Chair of the West Coast Conservation Board and is a panel member for the
Biodiversity Fund & Lotto’s Environment & Heritage Fund.
